What's the "Bug" in Bug Head Kayaking Coats?

The question is often asked -- What's the "Bug" in your company Bug Head Kayaking Coats? Are you obsessed with insects? Do you have head lice? An emphatic NO to both. The answer is two fold: First, I love the beauty, simplicity, and elegance of traditional Arctic kayaks and their minimal hand-carved gear so you could say I've got the 'make-your-own skin-on-frame-kayak-with-cedar-paddle-and-learn -to-roll-with-that-paddle-multiple-ways' bug. The Bug Head logo -- by illustrator Mark S. Fisher -- is a tongue-in-cheek attempt to express my passion for this ancient maritime tradition. Second, the most creative coat I've made so far has a tailed hood which looks like you've got a nine pound arthropod -- bug -- perched on your head. That design gave rise to the company name - Bug Head. Had I come up with the Lizard Head design coat first, the company might have been called "Lizard Head" or perhaps "Gila Head" Kayaking Coats although lizards aren't usually associated with the ocean. Other company names I toyed with include Tabloid Tuiliks, Man Bites Shark, Bleeding Swimmer, Tide Ride Designs, Soup Rocket, SealsWheels, Cold Ocean Hardware, Rollo Dye (roll or die), Neoprenia, Plunge Products, Tidal Hardware, Tidal Pop, and Pop Tide. In hindsight the last one sounds like laundry detergent or carbonated sea water.
